BROTHER, SISTER SERVE --Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Savage, 205 S. First street, Clear Lake, have 2 children in the service. The daughter, Donna Belle S. Conroy, became a WAVE last January and took boot training at Hunters college, New York City. She was then assigned to a convalescent hospital at Swarthmore, Pa., where she received the rating of pharmacist's mate 3/c, Oct. 1. She attended high school at Clear Lake and at Hampton.
The son, DeVere L. Savage, joined the navy last March and went to Farragut, Idaho, for boot training. He was then assigned to Iowa State college, Ames, where he received the highest rating and took the honors in a class of 83 men. For this he received a certificate of honor. He was graduated from Hampton high school. He is now stationed at Little Creek, Va., where he is taking L.S.M. amphibious training. He carries a rating of motor machinist's mate 3/c.
