Dean Halsey Prough was born July 7, 1921 to Halsey Sutherland and Fern Elizabeth Richards Prough. He died May 25, 2017 and is buried in Shaul Cemetery, Ottumwa, IA.
Sgt. Prough served in World War II with the U.S. Army Headquarters Co., 5th Armored Division, Transportation, landing on Utah Beach on D-Day. Infantrymen cleared the path for tanks like the one Prough drove.
