LIEUT. POWERS
First Lieut. Robert L. Powers, son of Mrs. Loretta Powers, 471 Locust street, has been assigned to serve as pilot in a B-24 Liberator bombardment group in Italy. This veteran organization, one of the oldest in the Mediterranean theater, initiated its combat operations on Aug. 1, 1942, blasting the port of Mersa Metruh, Egypt, then used as a supply base for Rommel's Afrika Korps. He attended Loras academy and college, and received his commission at Victorville, Calif., in September 1942.
