Donald Leroy Polzien was born Nov. 5, 1920 to Elmer H. and Cora A. Polzien. He died Jan. 21, 1944 and is memorialized in the Courts of the Missing, Court 7, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Sgt. Polzien served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 819th Bomb Squadron, 30th Bomb Group and was KIA as a crew member of a B-24 (Liberator) bomber which participated in a combat mission to Tarawa, Gilbert Islands. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
