Vernon Cecil Perry was born Mar. 4, 1919 to Elvie L. and Hettie Lillian Bailey Perry. He died July 16, 1943 and is buried in Sicily-Rome American Cemetery and Memorial, Nettuno, Italy and has a cenotaph in Oakland Cemetery, Sac City, IA.
Sgt. Perry served in World War II with the U.S. Army 7th Infantry regiment, 3rd Infantry Division and was KIA in the North African area. He was awarded the Silver Star, Purple Heart Combat Infantryman Badge, American Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
