Weldon R. Parrish

Services for Weldon R. Parrish, 64, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Paul D. Williamson officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Mr. Parrish died Wednesday evening at the Good Samaritan hospital in Downer’s Grove, Ill. where he had been a patient for four months.

Weldon Roscoe Parrish, son of Roscoe and Madaline Smalley Parrish, was born June 13, 1913, in Woolstock, where he was reared and educated.

On Dec. 18, 1934, he was united in marriage to Wilma Brock, and the couple resided in Webster City where he was co-manager of the Coast-to-Coast store for a number of years and was employed by the Webster City schools for 17 years.

He served in the European theater during World War II with the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Dr. Ronald D. Parrish of Downer’s Grove, Ill., two grandchildren, Bruce Weldon and Gregory Ross Parrish; his mother, Mrs. Madaline Parrish; by four sisters, Mrs. Oliver (Ione) Rehnblom, Webster City, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Bell of Jewell, Mrs. Kenneth (Shirley) Voss, Jewell, and Mrs. Andrew (Charlene) Yates of Webster City, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son who died in infancy; his father and one sister.

Mr. Parrish was a member of the Asbury United Methodist church and was also a member of the Elks Lodge, the American Legion, the Moose lodge and the CSP club.

Weldon Roscoe Parrish was born June 13, 1913 to Roscoe and Madaline Smalley Parrish. He died Oct. 17, 1977 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Pvt. Parrish served with the U.S. Army in World War II with the 423rd Ordnance Evacuation Co.
