Story City—Mrs. Christine Nibe of Ames, formerly of this place, received word Wednesday that her son, Capt. Donald Nibe, had been killed in action in Italy. No details were given in the message. Capt. Nibe was 30 years old, and formerly made his home at Jewell. He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Fisher of Eagle Grove, his mother and two brothers.

Donald Newton Nibe was born Feb. 1, 1914 to Helmer John and Christina Peterson Nibe. He died May 29, 1944 and is buried in the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery, Nettuno Italy Lot I, Row: 14 Grave: 11.

Capt. Nibe served with the 59th Armored Field Artillery Battalion and was in Italy when he was killed in action. Capt. Nibe was awarded the Bronze Star.
