Numan O. Nelson

 

 

Our Neighbors in the Services

Ute, Iowa – Numan O. Nelson, navy storekeeper first class, is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Nelson. He was a survivor of the sinking of the U.S. S. Northampton, which went down in the Pacific in 1942. He will leave for New York, where he will receive his assignment to another ship.

Numan Odell Nelson was born Feb. 13, 1917 to Christian and Ida Rye Nelson. He died July 9, 2000 and is buried in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

Chief Warrant Officer Nelson served with the U.S. Navy in World War II and Korea.
