Harold Peter Nelson was born Aug. 5, 1911 to Hans Peter and Henrietta Cooter Nelson. He died Feb. 21, 1986 and is buried in Washington Township Cemetery, Duncombe, IA.

Harold served in World War II with the U.S. Army 75th Engineering Company.

His Obituary:

Harold P. Nelson, 74, of Marshalltown, a former Webster City and Duncombe resident, died Friday night at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center, where he was a patient for one week. He had been in ill health for seven years.

Mr. Nelson body was donated to the College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines and graveside services will be held at a later date in Washington Township cemetery in Duncombe.

Harold Peter Nelson, son of Hans and Henrietta Cooter Nelson, was born Aug. 5, 1911 in Fremont Township, west of Webster City. He was educated in the rural school in that township. He served with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from March 1942 through November 1945 in the Asiatic Theatre.

He farmed for many years near Duncombe, and later helped farmers in the Webster City area. He also was employed at Graceland cemetery and Blairsburg cemetery. The past two years, he has resided at the Iowa Veterans home in Marshalltown.

He is survived by one brother and four sisters, Verne Nelson of Lehigh, Blanche (Mrs. W. L.) Hayes, Gladys (Mrs. Ellis) Tipping, Opal (Mrs. Wendell) Weidlein, all of Webster City; Nora (Mrs. Malcom) Baldwin, Burlington; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
