Robert Brice Moore was born May 18, 1914 to Ernest R. and Winifred Evans Moore. He died Dec. 31, 1944 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and in Murdoch-Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, IA.
Capt. Moore served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps and became a POW on Corregidor and was taken to Cabanatuan POW Camp, later moved to Bilibid Prison. He survived the sinking of the Oryoku Maru at Manila but died on the POW Ship Brazil Maru and his remains were committed to the sea. He was posthumously promoted to Major.
