FIRST RELEASE OF STATE HISTORICAL DEATH SUMMARIES  

Eighty men from Kossuth county lost their lives while in the service of their country in World War II.

Francis Ellsworth “Frank” Moore was born Oct. 17, 1907 to J. E. and Myrtle Belle Beaudette Moore. He died Dec. 23, 1944 and is buried in East Lawn Cemetery, Algona, IA. 

Pvt. Moore served in World War II with the U.S. Army and was KIA at the Battle of the Bulge. He had been wounded in the St. Lo offensive, France, and recovered in England. He returned to frontline duty in Oct. 1944, and with his company fought through France and Belgium into Germany.
