Herman Menzel was born Feb. 24, 1921 to Henry and Hulda Kullman Menzel. He died July 10, 2003 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Shell Rock, IA.
Petty Officer Menzel served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and was awarded the Purple Heart.
