Alta, Iowa – Verner Matsen, shipfitter in the navy, has returned to Washington, D.C. after spending a furlough with Mrs. Matson and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Matsen.

Verner Arthur Leander Matsen was born Jan. 23, 1904 to Peder and Nellie Leander Matsen. He died Aug. 30, 1972 and is buried in Scandinavian Cemetery, Alta, IA.
Verner served in World War II with the U.S. Navy.
