Stewart Millsap Died March 10 on Iwo Jima

WILLIAMS—Word has been received by relatives of the death of Stewart Millsap of the marine corps on Iwo Jima, March 10. He was a raider scout and was reported killed by a Japanese sniper.

He and his brother, Grove Millsap had met on the island a short time before and enjoyed some days together.

His mother, Mrs. Sylvia Talcott Millsap, lives at Downers Grove, Ill., and the youngest brother, Parker is in the European war theater.

Stewart Arthur Millsap, Jr. was born June 26, 1918 to Stewart Arthur, Sr. and Sylvia Talcott Millsap. He died Mar. 10, 1945 and is buried in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL.

Cpl. Mills, a raider scout, was killed in action Mar. 10, 1945, on Iwo Jima by a Japanese sniper. He is survived by his mother, Sylvia Talcott Millsap of Downers Grove, IL and two brothers--Francis Grove ‘Grove’, U.S. Marine Corps and James Parker ‘Parker’, Army Air Corps--who also served in World War II.
