Donald Meyer, 71, Boone, died Dec. 30, 1996, at the Boone County Hospital, Boone. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, N.E. Boone County, with Pastor Allen Henderson officiating. Burial was at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, N. E. Boone County. Military rites were performed by the Boone Veterans Council. The Schroeder Funeral Home, Boone, was in charge of arrangements.
Donald L. Meyer, son of Eugene H. and Ione M. Knight Meyer, was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Hamilton County. He attended school in Stanhope and graduated from Stanhope High School in 1943. He lived all his life in Boone and Hamilton County and was employed as a farmer. On Feb. 3, 1974, he married Juanita Ehlert at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in N.E. Boone County. He served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps during World War II. He retired in 1987.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Meyer, Boone; son and daughter-in-law, James and Jan Meyer, Omaha, Neb.; step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Warren and Jacki Ehlert, Stanhope; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jim Blend, Eldridge; step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Christine and Don Stuhr, Glidden; step-son-in-law, Chuck Van Langen, Jewell; four grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother; one step-daughter; and one step-grandson.
Mr. Meyer was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the VFW and American Legion. He was also a 4-H Leader and was a member of the Boone and Hamilton County Cattleman’s Association.
