Verlyn C. Merritt was born Aug. 11, 1918 to Charles and Deane Merritt. He died Nov. 4, 1942 and is buried in New Hampton Cemetery, New Hampton, IA.
Pvt. Merritt served in World War II with the U.S. Army 1st Battalion, Co. A, 301st Ordnance Regiment and died while in the service of his country.
