Thomas R. McGrath was born Feb. 6, 1917 to John and Julia Ruth McNamara McGrath. He died Jan. 5, 1979 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion, IA.
Sgt. McGrath served with the U.S. Air Force in World War II. He was a Crew Chief on a transport plane carrying troops and ammunition to the front lines in the Pacific. Tom was awarded a decoration for 50 operational flights not only dropping supplies, but removing wounded.
