James L. Matt was born Dec. 2, 1921 to Louis W. and Anna Leona Fisher Matt. He died Apr. 17, 1945 and is buried in Florence American Cemetery, Impruneta, Italy.
Lt. Matt served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 65th Fighter Squadron, 57th Fighter Group and was KIA near Bologna, Italy and was awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.
