Pfc. John M. Lee Listed As Slightly Wounded Nov. 21.
Two Webster City homes received word of war casualties over the weekend with Roscoe Rowe being notified by the war department that his son, Pvt. Jerris Roscoe Rowe, 21, had died Nov. 26 in France and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Lee being notified that their son, Pfc. John M. Lee was slightly wounded, Nov. 21, in Germany.
Private Rowe, a member of an infantry detachment, had been overseas since late July. A veteran of nearly two years’ service, Private Rowe took A.S.T.U. training at Iowa City and was also located at Camp Crowder, Mo., for a short time.
The serviceman enlisted from Fairmont, Minn., where he had made his home with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Meyer. Besides his father and step-mother, he is survived by one sister, three half-sisters and a half-brother.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee were notified Saturday that their son was only slightly injured while in action with a First division infantry unit. Private Lee previously had written a letter dated Nov. 23 in which he didn’t mention any wounds but stated he was “taking a rest."

John Maynard Lee was born May 9, 1925 to Daniel C. and Ruby May Myers Lee. He died June 22, 2005 in Reno, NV.
John served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
