Clifton J Larson, age 92, of Ellsworth, IA, died Friday, July 17, 2015 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, IA.

Clifton James Larson was born on August 4, 1922 on a farm near Randall, Iowa. He was one of four children born to Oscar and Selma (Charlson) Larson.

He began his education in country school and graduated from Ellsworth High School with the Class of 1940.

He worked on farms until entering the U.S. Army in 1943. He was a medic, served all over the world and was honorably discharged in 1945.

On June 4, 1948 Clifton was united in marriage to Shirley Voga at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. He began farming that very year and continued to farm, raise turkeys, hogs and cattle. He retired in 1998. They enjoyed many years wintering in Texas.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, the American Legion, a Charter Member of the Jewell Golf Course Board, and also served on the Ellsworth Co-op Elevator Board.

Death came to Clifton on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, IA.

Those thankful for having shared his life include his wife Shirley of Story City; children Suzanne (Robert) Barkema of Muscatine, Steven (Pam) Larson of Ellsworth, Cheryl (Blaine) Lenz of Story City and Julie (Dennis) Reinsch of Ames; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law Arling Isvik and Eugene Voga; two sisters-in-law Flo Larson and Martha Voga; along with many other relatives and friends.

Clifton was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Donald and David, and a sister Beverly Isvik.
