George Norman Larsen was born Feb. 2, 1920 to Edward and Carrie Nicholiason Larsen. He died Oct. 4, 1943 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, England and has a cenotaph at Hazelwood Cemetery, Grinnell, IA.
Lt. Larsen served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 67th Bomber Squadron, 44th Bomber Group, Heavy and was MIA/KIA/FOD aboard a B-24 which was lost at sea in a collision with enemy aircraft. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
