Pvt. Gysbert Kuyper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Kuyper living near Sioux Center is now stationed at Camp Dodge. He was left at Des Moines to hand out uniforms and shoes to the new recruits. Pvt. Gysbert Kuyper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Kuyper, is now located at Camp White, Oregon with the U.S. army. He was transferred from Des Moines to Oregon recently. New Baby

Mr. and Mrs. Gysbert Kuyper became the proud parents of a nine-pound son, born to them at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lammert Rens, at Hull on Thursday afternoon. Pvt. Gysbert Kuyper is stationed at Vancouver, Wash., and is expected home on a furlough in the near future.

Baby Receives Gift From Princess Juliana

Mr. and Mrs. Gysbert Kuyper received a seven-piece set of clothing for their son Lambert Gary, born January 21st, from Princess Juliana, through the Ladies Aid Sewing Center of New York City. All babies born within the week of the birth of princess Juliana's last child, and whose names were sent in to the above organization, received the same gift of clothing.

Emergency Furlough Granted

Pvt. Gysbert Kuyper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit G. Kuyper of Hull, arrived home Saturday from Vancouver, Washington on a fourteen-day emergency furlough following the death of his aunt Mrs. Ed Hulshof. This is his first furlough since he entered the service last September, also the first time he has seen his own son who was born in January. His wife is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Rens and has been staying with her parents. Gysbert likes his army life thus far, would like to be near his wife and baby but has no complaint to make. He drives hospital cars and ambulances.

In the absence of Rev. Brunsting Reverend Gerrit Bosch of Maurice took charge of the morning services and the Rev. Henry Colenbrander of Orange City the afternoon service at the First Ref. Church on Sunday. In the afternoon a special baptism service was held for Carol Faye, daughter of Pvt. and Mrs. Peter Mormon and Lammert Gary, son of Pfc. and Mrs. Gysbert Kuyper. Pvt. Kuyper was home on furlough.

Gysbert E. Kuyper, SN 37427958, was born Feb. 3, 1920, at Hull, Iowa, and was residing at Sioux Center, Iowa prior to entering the army on September 2, 1942 at Camp Dodge, Iowa. He served with the DMD 30th General Hospital, left for overseas service on February 26, 1944, returned on October 20, 1945, and was honorably discharged on October 9, 1945. His application for bonus pay was filed on May 20, 1949, for which he received $447.50.
