Leif Richard Kloster was born Jan. 28, 1919 to Hallvard and Marie Antonnet Hole Kloster. He died Dec. 15, 1944 and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove, IA.
Lt. Kloster served with the 8th Army Air Corps, 17th Bomb Squadron, 27th Bombardment. He was taken prisoner on Bataan and held a prisoner by the Japanese. He was on board a Japanese transport, being moved from the Philippine Islands, when it was sunk Dec. 15, 1944. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart Medal with Presidential Citation.
