Cpl. Clarence E. Klein

 

 

Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Klein and son Clarence, Henrietta Kuyper, E. Ricke, Mrs. Wm. Finck and Mrs. C. R. McDowell were in Rock Rapids Saturday afternoon to see the boys leave for camp. Clarence Klein is the only one who left from Doon.

Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Klein received work from their son, Clarence E. Klein, stating his promotion to corporal, showing the fine progress he has made in the army since entering last September. He is now stationed at Leesville, La., having been transferred recently from Camp Barkeley, Texas.

Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Klein received a letter by V mail from Cpl. Clarence Klein that he had arrived in North Africa and was feeling fine.

Iowa U.S. World War II Bonus Case Files, 1947-1954, Claim

Clarence E. Klein, SN 37262314, was born on Feb. 6, 1929, at Doon, Iowa, which was where he was residing prior to entering the army on Sept. 19, 1942, at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. He served with the 219th QM SR Co., left for foreign service on April 29, 1943, returned on Nov. 19, 1945, and was honorably discharged on Nov. 24, 1945. His application for bonus pay was filed on May 5, 1949, for which he received $487.50.
