Myron ‘Mike’ Kent was born Dec. 4, 1926 to Charles and Opal Norton Kent. He died Apr. 13, 2014 and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Stratford, IA.

Petty Officer Kent served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Myron "Mike" Kent, 87, of 908 Avon Street in Stratford, Iowa passed away at the Boone County Hospital in Boone on Sunday morning, April 13, 2014.

He was born on December 4, 1926 in Webster City, Iowa the son of Charles Kent and Opal (Norton) Kent.

On January 11, 1948, he married Geraldine Hiveley at the Homer Methodist Church in Homer, Iowa.

Mike graduated from the Stratford High School. He was a veteran of World War II serving as a Fireman 1/C in the Navy and was a life long farmer in the Lehigh and Stratford area. Mike enjoyed hunting and was a gun enthusiast.

He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and the American Legion, Fredrick Sonksen Post #576 of Stratford.

His parents and 1 brother, Glen in infancy, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Geraldine of Stratford; 1 son Butch Kent and wife Martha of Stratford; 2 grandsons Adam Kent and wife Kim of Panora, Iowa and Jordan Kent and wife Rachel of Urbandale, Iowa; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 brother Francis "Bud" Kent of Spring Valley, Minnesota; 3 sisters Joy Sears and husband Frank of Alabama, Jane Knoll of Webster City, Iowa, and Kaye Page of Boone, Iowa.
