News About Men in Service From Over Northeast Iowa
Osage—Sgt. George Kendall, who is serving in New Guinea writes: “Our present home is in the midst of a coconut grove. The grove was set out years ago and is a sight to see—rows of trees in every direction, like a corn field. We have our hammocks strung between the palms. A bulldozer has cleared the underbrush, so the ground is quite bare. It is astounding to see the prodigious amount of work the engineers have done in making this a better place to live in.”
