Luvern William Kehe was born Dec. 2, 1909 to Henrich Wilhelm Johann and Louise Steege Kehe. He died July 28, 1995 and is buried in Harlington Cemetery, Waverly, IA. Col. Kehe served with the U.S. Army in World War II. He participated in the armed forces buildup in Washington, D.C. and was then assigned to the Alaskan Highway and Canol Projects in Canada, involved in the road construction and the oil pipeline. He finished his military career at the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, TN.
