START TRAINING
Robert LeRoy Keast, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Keast and Constantine Nick Dermand, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Dermand, both of Webster City, have started their boot training in the navy at Farragut, Idaho.
Petty Officer Dermand served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Koiner (DE-331).

Robert LeRoy Keast was born Feb 14, 1925 to Frederick Eli and Myrtle Linahon Keast. He died May 3, 1961 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.
Robert served in the U.S. Navy in World War II with an armed guard unit in the Philippine war theater.

R. L. Keast Dies at 36
Robert L. Keast, 36, assistant manager of the Spahn and Rose Lumber Co., died at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines, following an illness of several months.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Foster funeral home. The Rev. P.M. Moll of Vincent will officiate with burial in Graceland Cemetery.
Robert Leroy Keast, son of Fred and Myrtle Keast, was born Feb. 14, 1925, at Webster City He was reared and educated in this community.
He served in World War II with the U. S. Navy.
He was united in marriage Feb. 14, 1958, to Charlotte Schwandt and the couple made their home on the Schwandt farm near Woolstock. For several years he engaged in the carpentry trade but for the past eight years had been assistant manager of the Spahn and Rose Lumber Co. in this city.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Connie, 2, and Carol, eight months; his mother, Mrs. Myrtle Keast, Webster City; one brother, William Keast, Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his father and 10 brothers and sisters.
Mr. Keast was a member of the American Legion.
