Draft Board NOTICE 

The immediate re-classification into a class available for service of those registrants who since December 12, 1944, have voluntarily left the employment for which they were DEFERRED, without first having obtained the required determination from the local board, has been ordered by State Selective Service. In other words, those men who since December 12 have left their jobs and farms for which they were DEFERRED are subject to 1-A classification.

Arthur Kamerman, Alfred Beukelman, Donald Dykstra of Hull and Gerrit Franken who left for the service last Friday night have all been accepted for service in the navy and left Fort Snelling, Minn. on Monday evening to begin their training at the Great Lakes.

Mrs. Alfred Beukelman and Mrs. Arthur Kamerman plan to leave for Chicago on Friday evening to visit with their husbands who are receiving their boot training for the navy at the Great Lakes station. The girls plan to look for work there and will remain there until their husbands have completed their training.

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Beukelman and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kamerman left again Friday morning for Chicago where the men will report for re-assignment for duty in the Navy. They both had a week’s leave at home. The women are employed there while their husbands are in the service.

Arthur W. Kamerman S 2/c, who was recently home on furlough, is now at Shoemaker, Calif. and has this address: Naval Training and Dist. Center, Shoemaker, Calif. Arthur is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kamerman of Sioux Center.

Mrs. Arthur Kamerman arrived home from Chicago, Ill. on Tuesday evening where she had been working several weeks while her husband was stationed at the Great Lakes naval training station, and after spending a few days at the parental Teunis Jansen home, she left for Shoemaker, Calif. on Thursday evening where she will be with her husband who had been moved there for advanced training with the navy.

Arthur W. Kamerman S 2/c whose address is c/o Postmaster, San Francisco, Calif. recently wrote home to parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kamerman that he had seen a few cases of eggs that were stamped with the Sioux Center Produce.

Mrs. Arthur Kamerman is expected to return home this week Saturday from San Francisco, Calif., where she has spent the past two months while her husband was stationed there, receiving advanced training for the navy, and he has left the states, so she will return to make her home here.

Arthur Kamerman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kamerman has been promoted to Ship Fitter 3/c according to recent letters home. He left the states in August and is now in the Marshall Islands.

Arthur Kamerman S.F. 1/c, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kamerman, has been in the Navy for almost a year, and is stationed at San Francisco, Calif. He is married to the former Ann Jansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Teunis Jansen, and he called her by telephone on Thursday as that was their first anniversary.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kamerman, Mrs. Arthur Kamerman and Genieve and Gertrude Den Herder went to Winnebago Tues. They spent the day visiting with Lena Kamerman, who is employed there.

DISCHARGED 

Alfred Beukelman arrived here last Tuesday evening and has been discharged after a year of service in the navy. He spent the last few months on sea duty. Arthur Kamerman arrived home that same evening and has also been discharged after a year of service in the navy. The boys left the same time and also arrived home again together.

Iowa, U.S., World War II Bonus Case Files, 1947-1954, Claim 

Arthur William Kamerman was born July 12, 1922, at Orange City, Iowa, and was living at Sioux Center, Iowa prior to entering the Navy on April 9, 1945, at Great Lakes, Ill. He served on the USS Gemini AP 75, left for overseas duty on July 3, 1945, returned on April 15, 1946, and was honorably discharged on April 23, 1946. His application for bonus pay was filed on May 20, 1949, for which he received $152.50.
