Remsen, Iowa –Private Joseph J. Junkers has returned to duty in southern California after a furlough spent with his parents here.

NEWS of the Boys in the Service

Sgt. Joseph J. Junkers, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Junkers of Remsen, has been awarded the purple heart medal after being wounded in France. He is in a hospital in England and is reported to be recovering. He was drafted in February, 1942.

Joseph John Junkers was born Oct. 7, 1919 to John and Mary Heidesch Junkers. He died June 23, 1981 and is buried in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
