Maynard L. Jones Prisoner of War

Lieut. Maynard L. Jones is a prisoner of war of the Germans and also wounded, the war department has informed his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth C. Jones, 4030 E Twenty-eighth st.

Lieutenant Jones was reported missing in action Sept. 27 on his 17th mission, he holds the air medal with one oak leaf cluster. He has been overseas since June.

A Graduate of East high school. He was a student at Drake university before entering the service.

Lt. Maynard L. Jones, recently released from a German prisoner of war camp, is spending a 15-day sick leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth C. Jones., 2719 E. Grand ave.

Lieutenant Jones was shot down over Germany and suffered a broken leg. He was a prisoner from Sept. 27, 1944 to April 5, 1945. He has the Air Medal and three oak leaf clusters and the Purple Heart.

He will return to Schick General hospital, Clinton, Ia.
