Roy Eugene Johnson was born Jan. 14, 1922 to George M. and Etta M. Williamson Johnson. He died Aug. 20, 1984 and is buried in Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.

Roy Johnson served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II and in Korea. He was a Lt. Col. in the Iowa National Guard and commandant at Camp McCoy, WI.

Services for Roy E. Johnson, 62, of 2926 Euclid Ave., who died of cancer Monday Aug. 20th at home, will bea t 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23rd at Hamilton’s Funeral Home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was born in Randall, was a Des Moines resident most of his life and was a retired inspector for the Department of Transportation. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a member of Reserve Officers Association and Army reserves. He was a retired Lieutenant colonel.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline; three daughters, Janice Clark and Jean Collins, both of Des Moines, and Judy Hammer of Naperville, Ill.; and five sisters, Gladys Ubben of Jewell, Ferne Danger of Ellsworth, Dorothy Cole of West Liberty, and Ruby Colclasure and Mavis Clark, both of Albuquerque, N.M.
