Pvt. Kenneth Laverne Iverson

 

 

 

Kenneth Laverne Iverson was born Aug. 13, 1922 to Jens and Betsy Espe Iverson. He died Jan. 4, 2013 and is buried in the Kingsbury Cemetery, La Porte, IN.

Pvt. Iverson served with the U.S. Army in World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific and American theaters.

His Obituary:

Kenneth L. Iverson, 90, of LaPorte, died peacefully at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Indiana University Health LaPorte Hospital.

He was born Aug. 13, 1922, in Williams, IA, to Jens and Betsy (Espe) Iverson.

Kenneth retired in 1985 from Kingsley Furniture after 33 years of service. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific and American Theaters. He was a member of Kingsbury Baptist Church, American Legion Disabled Veterans Chapter 13 of South Bend, Kingsbury Volunteer Fire Department and Masonic Lodge of Kingsbury.

On Sept. 26, 1942, in Chicago, he married the love of his life, June M. (Barhorst) Iverson, who preceded him in death.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Keith Iverson; two brothers, Ed Thompson and Harry Iverson; and one sister, Eunice Hanson.

Surviving are one daughter, Donna (John) Crider of LaPorte; one brother, Norman Iverson of Villa Park, IL; one sister, Sonva Ciano of Chicago, IL; and two grandchildren.

A funeral celebrating his life will be held at noon Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, with Pastor Tim Williams from Kingsbury Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will follow in Kingsbury Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the LaPorte Honor Guard.
