Donald Eugene Hughes was born June 21, 1920 to McDowell and Ruby Gertrude Lighter Hughes. He died Dec. 15, 1944 and is buried in Alice Union Cemetery, Conrad, IA.
Sgt. Hughes served in World War II with the U.S. Army and died in Leyte, Philippine Islands while in the service of his country.
