Max Eugene Hollander was born Feb. 10, 1922 to Paul Clifford and Irene Elaine Hillman Hollander. He died Apr. 7, 2017 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA.
Sgt. Hollander served in World War II with the U.S. Army 843rd Army Engineer Aviation Battalion in the European Theater of Operations, constructing air strips. His life-long patriotism was evidenced by his commitment to local veterans groups. For over 30 years he continued the bond among fellow comrades through reunions of his Army battalion.
