Burel Eugene Hodges was born Aug. 9, 1922 to Bailey Ross and Myrtle Ellen Thacker Hodges. He died Nov. 20, 1944 and is buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.
Sgt. Hodges served in World War II with the U.S. Army and died at the 15th General Hospital, Liege, Belgium as a result of an accidental gunshot wound.
