Paul S. Hermsen Reported Lost in African Fighting
Corporal Paul S. Hermsen, 23, has been missing in action in the north African theater of war since February 17, his parents, Dr. and Mrs. P.J. Hermsen of Bronson, Iowa have been informed by the secretary of war.
Corporal Hermsen entered the service February 10, 1941, leaving with the national guard from Neola, Iowa. He was a graduate of Neola High School.
Mrs. Hermsen said the last word received from her son was a letter written February 1, which she received March 1.

Corporal Hermsen First Was Reported Missing In Action
Corporal Paul S. Hermsen, 23, son of Dr. and Mrs. Paul J. Hermsen, Bronson, Iowa, is a prisoner of war of the German government, according to word received by his parents through the International Red Cross and the United States government.
Early in March Dr. and Mrs. Hermsen received word that their son had been missing in action in the North African theater of war since February 17.
Corporal Hermsen entered the service February 10, 1941, leaving with the National Guard from Neola, Iowa. He is a graduate of the Neola High School. The last direct word received by the parents from Corporal Hermsen was a letter written February 1 and received March 1, Mrs. Hermsen said.
