William Herbert Haverland was born Mar. 2, 1916 to William M. and Margaretha Herbst Haverland. He died Oct. 15, 1990 and is buried in Guttenberg Cemetery, Guttenberg, IA.
Chief Petty Officer Haverland served in World War II with the U.S. Navy in the Southwest Pacific Theater and became a Japanese POW.
