Duane L. Hudson was born Jan. 26, 1928 to Thomas Elick and Ellen Jane Shafer Hudson. He died Oct. 24, 2011 and is buried in Fredericksburg East Side Cemetery, Fredericksburg, OH.

Duane served with the U.S. Army Signal Corps in World War II.

WOOSTER -- Duane L. Hudson, 83, Wooster, passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at West View Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Jan. 26, 1928, in Webster City, Iowa, the son of Thomas Elick and Ellen Jane Shafer Hudson, and married Thais G. Fisher on Dec. 21, 1951. She survives.
Duane grew up in Iowa and was owner/operator of Hudson's Sewing Machines & Vacuum Cleaners until May 31,1988. He then was owner/operator of South Market Shell and Campus Citgo until Aug. 31, 1996.
He had served his country in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, and had a strong work ethic starting at the age of 6, as a pin setter at a bowling alley. He loved his family and watching sports.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are children Susan Lindberg of Boliver, Jeffrey Hudson and James Hudson, both of Wooster, and Jerry Hudson of Apple Creek; grandchildren Duana, Tyann, Jon, Jonathon, Andy, Josef, Jeri Lynn, Larry, Eric, Karen, Laura, Jeremy and Jenny; 17 great-grandchildren; and sisters Jean Johnson and Darlene Ranger, both of Iowa.Duane was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Cathy, and a sister, Virginia Staples.
