Carl Alvin Hoodjer was born Nov. 6, 1916 to John Claassen and Dena Hinrichs Hoodjer. He died Nov. 26, 1942 and is buried in the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Manila, Philippines. He has a cenotaph at Butler Center Cemetery, Allison, IA.
Pvt. Hoodjer served with the U.S. Army 127th Infantry, 32nd Division in World War II and was KIA in the Philippines. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
