Sigvald Maynard Holt was born Oct. 9, 1913 to Bertil and Inger Bertine Eik Holt. He died Jan. 16, 1980 and is buried in Homewood Cemetery, Ellsworth, IA.

Sigvald served with the U.S. Army in World War II with Co. I, 362nd Infantry, 91st Div., Camp White, Oregon.

Sigvald Holt, 66, died early today at 2:35 a.m. at his farm home near Ellsworth He had been in ill health the past six months.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran church in Ellsworth with the Rev. Harvey Sigurdson officiating and with burial in Homewood cemetery at Ellsworth, with military rites at graveside.

The body will lie in state at the Becker Funeral home from Thursday until shortly before the time of service.

Sigvald Holt was born Oct. 9, 1913, son of Bertel and Bertina Eik Holt, near Ellsworth.

He was married to Inez Moklebust at Thor, Iowa, on June 24, 1945.

He was a graduate of Ellsworth high school and served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He had always farmed in the Ellsworth area and for 30 years had served as a Pioneer seed corn salesman.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church.

He is survived by his wife and four sons, Stephen Holt of Ellsworth, Brian Holt, Stratford, John Holt, St. Paul, and Timothy Holt at home; two grandchildren, Weston and Anna Holt, and one sister, Bergliot Holt of Ellsworth.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clarence and Manville Holt, and one sister, Marguerite.
