Eugene Frederick Holmes was born June 6, 1917 to Fred and Agnes E. Picken Holmes. He died May 21, 1943 and is buried in Winterset City Cemetery, Winterset, Madison Co. IA.
Lt. Holmes served in World War II with the U.S. Army and died as the result of an airplane accident while serving as a member of Battery A, 33rd Battalion, 8th Field Artillery Training Regiment.
