Russell Leroy Hinkel was born Aug. 27, 1916 to Oscar and Cora Mae Voshell Hinkel. He died Nov. 20, 1943 and is buried in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. He has a cenotaph at Wadena Cemetery, Wadena, IA.
Pvt. Hinkel served with the U.S. Army 142nd Infantry in World War II and was KIA.
