Richard James Hildreth, son of Rufa and Grace Woods Hildreth, was born Feb. 1, 1920. He died July 19, 1987 and is buried in Ankeny Memorial Gardens, Ankeny, IA.

Richard was born in rural Polk County and had lived in Ankeny most of his life. He retired in 1975 as a self-employed painting contractor. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Ankeny, American Legion Post 42 and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Beryl; two daughters, JoAnn Bidler and Susan Dalasta, both of Ankeny; two sons, Richard J. II of Dallas Center and Roger of Des Moines; two brothers, Irving of San Bernardino, Calif., and Harold of Ankeny; two sisters, Virginia Wheeler of Ames and Jean DuBois of Ankeny; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
