Emil Gotfred Hermansen was born May 16, 1917 to Anders Christian “Chris” Gotfred and Johanna Jorgensen Hermansen. He died Dec. 5, 1942 and is buried in Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Manila, Philippines. He has a cenotaph in Maple Grove Cemetery, Audubon, IA.
Pvt. Hermansen served with the U.S. Army in World War II with the 126th Infantry Regiment, 32nd Infantry Division and was KIA near Buna Village, New Guinea.
