Memorial Rites for Captain to Be at Marquette Saturday
Former Mason Cityan Was Killed in Action in Burma on June 15
Memorial services for Capt. William Wheeler Henthorne, former local resident killed in action in Burma June 15, will be held Saturday at 3:30 o'clock at the Methodist church in Marquette, where his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Henthorne, now live.
The American Legion post of Marquette will attend in a body.
Mr. and Mrs. Henthorne request that persons who wish to honor their son do so by gifts to charitable organizations of their own choosing rather than by sending flowers.

Capt. William W. Henthorne, son of Conductor A. W. Henthorne of Marquette, Ia., was killed in action in Myitkyina, Burma, on June 15. His grandfather, the late W. G. Wheeler of Marquette was one of the Milwaukee Road’s pioneer employes.

William Wheeler Henthorne was born Sept. 13, 1920 to Arthur William and Marion Elizabeth Henthorne. He died June 15, 1944 and is buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor, IA.
Capt. Henthorne served in World War II with the U.S. Army 5307th Composite Unit, 475th Infantry Battalion and was KIA in Burma.
