John William “Jack” Heimes was born Oct. 12, 1922 to John F. and Lydia J. Heimes. He died Aug. 16, 1945 and is buried in Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-Avold, Lorraine, France.
Lt. Heimes served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 53rd Fighter Squadron, 36th Fighter Group and was killed in service piloting a P-47D Thunderbolt #42-29157, in a crash, Erndtebruck, Germany. He was awarded the Air Medal.
