Ensign Hatch Is Missing In War

Former Student Believed Lost in Naval Air Action


Ensign Sheldon Prescott Hatch, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Hatch of Detroit, Mich., former well known Sioux Cityans, has been reported missing in action May 25 over Atlantic waters, his parents have informed Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Eales. Ensign Hatch was a pilot in the Naval Air Corps. He attended elementary schools here and Michigan State College, Lansing, where he was studying medicine.

Ensign Hatch entered military service in January 1942. He was married last Thanksgiving eve to the former Elizabeth Russell of Lansing. He has one sister, Mrs. Kellogg Moseley, who lives in Washington, D.C.
