Cpl. Lloyd Lester Hanson

 

 

 

Henry John and Tille Klaver Hanson had three sons serving their country in World War II: Lloyd Lester, Willis John "Bill" and Harold Harry.

Lloyd Lester Hanson was born Feb. 5, 1922 to Henry John and Tillie Klaver Hanson. He died July 25, 1993 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Cpl. Hanson served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II with an anti-aircraft unit seeing action on the Johnston and Marshall Islands.

Lloyd L. Hanson, 71, Newton, formerly of Webster City died July 25, 1993 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Burial will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Visitation is today with the family present from 7-8:30 p.m. Reese Funeral Home of Newton is in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd L. Hanson, son of Henry J. and Tillie Hanson, was born Feb. 5, 1922 in Strum, N.D. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1941. He served in the U. S. Marine corps in the South Pacific during World War II.

On Jan. 19, 1947, he married VaLora Mesecher in Webster City. He was founder and president of Hanson Directory Services Inc. of Newton. He spent the last 35 years in the Yellow Page business. He lived in Newton since 1960.

He is survived by his wife, VaLora; son, William of Des Moines, daughter, Cheryl Smith of Fort Collins, Co., Five grandchildren, brothers, Harold of Elbow Lake, Minn. and Bill of Battle Lake, Minn. and sister, Karen Olson of Lincoln, Neb. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis in 1983; and brother, George.
