Dale Eugene Hanson was born Aug. 16, 1926 to Lawrence and Lucille Philip Hanson. He died Mar. 23, 2014 and is buried in Lawn Hill Cemetery, Stanhope, IA.

Dale served in Japan with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Dale Hanson, 87, of Stanhope, IA died Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center, with Rev. Suzie Moore.

Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dale Eugene Hanson, son of Lawrence and Lucille Philip Hanson, was born on August 16, 1926 in Stanhope. He graduated from Stanhope High School. Dale was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in Japan. On June 19, 1949 he married Margaret Hill, northeast of Stanhope. The couple farmed south of Stanhope from 1960 to 1995. In 1998 they moved to Stanhope. In 2007 he retired from driving school bus for Stanhope and South Hamilton Schools, after 61 years.

He will be deeply missed by his children, Sheri (Steve Nibe) Severson of Story City, Dalene Hanson of Stanhope and Kenneth (Connie) Hanson of Webster City; five grandsons; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine Collins of Carrollton, GA; Evelyn Tiernan of Fort Dodge and Sandra Miller of Stanhope.

Dale was a member of Stanhope Parish. He was active in the Lions Club, receiving the Lion of the Year Award in 2007. He enjoyed helping with Watermelon Days in Stanhope. Dale was a member of the Moose Family Center and American Legion Post #191.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Margaret; brothers, Mervin and Stanley and a sister in infancy.
